Three Key Questions

We are all on a journey to somewhere. Some of us are going to a place we believe deep down in our hearts is meaningful, fulfilling, and maybe even world-changing. Some, of course, are not so intentional about the destination, but regardless, they are on the journey of life, and they are headed someplace—even if that place surprises and disappoints them in equal measure when they suddenly realise they have arrived there.

If you are already on your way to a perceived place in life, you are halfway through the journey of life and way ahead of a vast majority of the planet who, unlike you, might not have pondered about existence or made their determinations about their plans for it as you have.

For you, there are three critical questions to ask and answer before you proceed further on your determined path.

The first question is: Is your destination, meaningful and world-changing? Will it change and bring fulfilment to just you and yours to some other random persons on the planet. There is great reward in personal fulfilment derived from meeting one’s needs. But there is far greater reward in fulfilment from meeting not just one’s needs and aspirations but the aspirations or many others outside of ourselves. Consider this.

Two, who are you travelling with? Who you tag team is more likely to determine how fast and how successful you become at arriving or whether you arrive at all. A sinister ideology is being sponsored today that casts aspersions on God’s primary institutions for accessing help to get to our dreams and goals – family. The institution of family has been under attack from all angles, whether in bond between husband and wife, parent and child and families and relatives. Year after year, the tidal waves of greed, selfishness and delinquency continue to beat, wash and erode what value this institution has left to offer. Don’t buy the gambit. Build a strong family and where no such hope for building one exists, find family in like-minded individuals going where you are going or who are supportive and focused on getting somewhere meaningful like you. The journey of purpose is already lonely, it helps a great deal to have a kindred spirit on the track with you when make that solo run.

Finally; In what condition do you plan to arrive? One veritable study estimated that 60% of new billionaires’ wealth and material success was achieved via cronyism, monopoly and circumvention of existing laws. Even if this study is half true, it is very telling about where ethics and integrity stand when personal achievement is concerned. For your journey, it is important to consider whether your trail will be littered with hurt people, broken promises or damaged trust. Or whether it would be replete with testimonials, kept promises or solid trust. It is cool to arrive at the end in style, but it is much better to arrive to the applause of posterity than to the jeers of generations.

Think through these questions. It would do your journey great good.
