Strategy Queen

When one reads the story of Esther in the Bible, there is a revealing detail in her story that’s easy to miss. When Esther discovered Haman’s plot to destroy her people, she didn’t immediately storm the throne room. Despite having the crown, having the king’s favor, and despite even having divine purpose on her side – she waited. She planned. She strategized.

Think about it: Esther had the weight of an entire nation’s survival on her shoulders. She realized that instead of rushing in with urgent pleas, it was more expedient to orchestrate a series of strategic moves. Three days of fasting. Two separate banquets. Each step calculated, each moment chosen with precision. She understood a thing or two about purpose. It isn’t just about what you do – it’s also about when and how you do it.

This isn’t very far from the intrigue of ancient palace politics. But nonetheless, it is a masterclass in the execution of purpose. The natural impulse when carrying a God-given purpose is to rush forward, to make immediate moves. But Esther shows us that timing isn’t just about opportunity – as well as the wisdom to know how to optimize it.

Don’t confuse urgency with immediacy. Not every divine assignment requires instant action. Esther’s example teaches us that planning isn’t a lack of faith – it’s often an expression of it. It’s understanding that God’s purposes are best served through strategic wisdom.

Your purpose, like Esther’s intervention, needs proper positioning. Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is stop, plan, and wait for the right moment. Victory often lies in the timing.
